In this section you will find a history of our previous contests and where we placed. Peebles Burgh Silver Band took part in it's first contest in 1892 in Portobello playing the piece 'Trafalgar'. The band had one final rehersal at the North British Railway station before leaving by train to Portobello. When the band arrived word was passed that they were the first to play, which completely un-nerved them, as they had not been on a contest platform before. They played the test piece very well (although not in the prize list) and the 800 or 900 spectators were not slow to applaud the Peebles lads for their plucky performance. This was the first taste of contesting for the Peebles Band and it must have been an enjoyable experience as the band have competed most years right up to the present day.
