Welcome to the home page for the Junior & Development Bands
Next Event: Sunday 11th December - Christmas Lights Switch On - Cardrona Village

We would like to extend our huge thanks to Iain Fleming who has had to resign as conductor of our Junior section due to work commitments. During Iain's time with the band he has moulded our junior players into a fantastic group of musicains and his hard work has steered these players onto great things.
We would like to announce that Daniel Williamson has now taken charge of the 'Development' Band and with new tunes and arrangements we look forward to seeing what more these young musicians can produce.
Daniel T Ward has now taken charge of our 'Junior' band.
Junior Band & Development Band entertain the crowds at the 'Best of British' concert
The Junior section, led by Daniel T Ward, took to the stage on Friday 30th September demonstrated to the crown how far these young players have come and what truely can be done with tuition and practice. They put in a fine performance of the hymn Eudoxia, 'Ah! vous dirai-je, Maman,' (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to you and me), Postman Pat and the theme to Dad’s Army. Well done Juniors.
The Development Band, now led by Daniel Williamson (our Solo Horn player), also took to the stage on Friday 30th September and put together a selection of music that echoed the Best of British theme. These were All Through the Night (Welsh folk song), Blaydon Races (Geordie folk song), Run (written by Scottish band Snow Patrol) and The Rose (covered by Irish boy band Westlife). The Rose was performed as a solo on euphonium by Mikkel Bottcher – a rising star and a name to watch out for!
Development Band bring home the Silver!
Congratulations to our Development Band who brought home the Silver Award from the Development Section at this years Brass In The Park Contest at Newton Grange. All credit goes to everyone for putting in such a solid performance.
The Junior Band has recently undergone a reorganisation resulting in it being split into two sections. It was evident that it was becoming more difficult to rehearse and instruct children in a single group which contained a wide range of ages and abilities. The reorganisation has been done to provide the younger children a more focused level of tuition while stretching the older children musically making rehearsals more productive and enjoyable whilst ensuring a smoother progression through the ranks as their skills develop.
The younger 'Junior' group is tutored by Dan Ward from 5pm - 6pm on Thursdays followed by the 'Development' group, led by Daniel Williamson, from 6pm - 7pm.
As always if any youngster (or oldster, age is no barrier) would like to learn to play a brass instrument then come along to the band hall any Thursday from 5pm onwards. You will be assured a warm welcome.
